Jumpstart is an annual outreach program created by Heartland Church to meet the growing need for back-to-school clothing among children in our community. Our goal is to support as many families as possible while demonstrating the love of Christ through tangible acts of care and generosity.
More than just a program, Jumpstart is a partnership between our church and local county and city schools throughout the Paducah, Kentucky, and Metropolis, Illinois areas. Through these partnerships, schools provide the names of students who are in urgent need of clothing. We then personally invite these families to join us on our campus for a full-day event designed to serve and encourage them.
During the event, we provide free haircuts for more than 175 students, offer a complimentary lunch for the entire family, and create a fun, welcoming environment with activities, educational opportunities, and door prizes. To close out the day, each family is taken to Walmart, where a set amount is provided for each student to purchase new clothing and essentials for the upcoming school year.
