Reading: Nehemiah 5
Redeem - “According to our ability we have redeemed our Jewish brethren who were sold to the nations.” (vs. 8)
Reflection: Love is more than not bringing harm, it is bearing the cost of helping others. To “redeem” means to buy out of slavery.” it is a reflection of the work of Christ who purchased believers out of the slavery of sin and Satan at His own cost that we might be free. Love is an action that treasures another person to bear the weight and cost of seeking their good.
Prayer: “Abba, make me value people more than things. Let me follow the demonstration of your love through the cross of Jesus. May redeeming love be my song and the means of bonding the church for such a time and such a task as this.”
