DAY 18
Reading: Nehemiah 5
Restore - “We will restore it and will require nothing from them; we will do as you say.” (vs. 12)
Reflection: Love doesn’t stop at rescue. It seeks restoration. That’s true of the restoration we give for the ways we have hurt others. But even more, restoring is a part of seeking the wellness of the people we love. Restoration is more than making things right...it is making things whole. True Christian community must have a space for very small groups of people to bear the weight of their pain among a group of gracious, trusted and hospitable people so restoration can happen. Anything less, falls short of the love the Gospel gives.
Prayer: “Abba, forgive us for limiting love to helping people in their times of trouble and not moving forward to the kind of love that heals and makes whole. Let me be an agent of love that brings peace to the hearts of people and loves them with the kind of bond that heals.”
