Reading: Nehemiah 6, Nehemiah 7
Order - “Then my God put it into my heart to gather the nobles, the rulers, and the people, that they might be registered by genealogy.” (Nehemiah 7:5)
Reflection: Structure might not seem like the most emotionally charged part of mission but without it the passion of mission becomes an unbridled horse that can cause more damage than good. It only took 6 chapters of Acts before the movement of God needed structure to be healthy. Yes, we have to make sure structure doesn’t suffocate the Spirit of God but we also must make sure that we have enough that it focuses and strengthens the Spirit’s work.
Prayer: “Abba, shape and guide the work you are doing in and through me as well as our church with structures that empower the mission and don’t stifle it.”
