DAY 28
Reading: Nehemiah 8, Nehemiah 9
Feasting - “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow for the joy of the Lord is your strength” (8:10)
Reflection: When we think of spiritual disciplines, we typically limit them to habits that are hard to do and perhaps are costly if not painful. Do I have good news for you! Feasting i a spiritual discipline not only in Nehemiah but throughout the entire Bible. It is the discipline of practicing joy with a party with good food and good people. Oh, how the people of God need to practice joy in Jesus because that joy is our strength. Maybe potlucks are holy after all!
Prayer: “Abba, restore the joy of my salvation. Let my faith not be drudgery but delight. Let me see your wonders so that my heart can barely contain the joy it is to know you and be with you.”
