WEEK 2 DAY 4
The Face of Glory
Devotional
Moses made a bold request when he asked to see God's glory, but there was a limitation: "You cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live." God placed Moses in the cleft of a rock, covering him as His glory passed by, allowing Moses to see only His back.
What Moses could only experience partially, we can now know fully through Jesus Christ. In the incarnation, the invisible God took on flesh and dwelt among us. The glory that was too dangerous for Moses to behold face-to-face now has a face we can look upon directly.
Jesus is the perfect expression of God's glory. He is the cleft in the rock that shields us from the wrath we deserve. He is the fulfillment of every promise God made. He is the face of God, making the unknowable God knowable in human terms.
When we look at Jesus, we see God's glory in its most accessible form—glory wrapped in grace and truth. We see power displayed through servanthood, wisdom expressed through simple parables, and love demonstrated through sacrifice.
No longer do we need to wonder what God is like or how He feels about us. In Jesus, we have the answer. His life, death, and resurrection reveal the heart of God more clearly than anything else could.
Today, turn your gaze toward Jesus. Look for Him in Scripture. Remember His words and actions. Consider His character and priorities. As you behold Him, you're beholding the very glory of God.
Bible Verse
"The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven." - Hebrews 1:3
Reflection Question
In what ways have you been projecting your own feelings or experiences onto God rather than seeing Him through the lens of Jesus Christ?
Quote
Moses couldn't see the face of God. But in that day in Bethlehem, in that manger, in that barn, God got a face and He got a name.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for making the invisible God visible. Thank You for being the cleft in the rock that shields me from wrath and allows me to see God's glory. Help me to look to You when I want to know what God is like. Transform my understanding of God as I behold Your glory. Amen.
