WEEK 3 DAY 1
Understanding the Weight of Our Souls
Devotional
Our souls are the amalgam of everything we feel, think, and experience. They were designed for communion with God, yet often carry burdens too heavy to bear alone. In our modern, overstimulated world, we’ve become experts at ignoring our souls, reacting to superficial stimuli while neglecting the deeper issues. This leads to anxiety and a lack of internal meaning and purpose.
Jesus modeled soul care by regularly retreating to mountains for prayer. He created sacred space for intimate communion with God, which is essential for our own soul care. We must create our own 'mountain' where we can unplug from life's noise to meet with God.
Bible Verse
And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. - Matthew 17:2
Reflection Question
What burdens are you carrying that you need to bring to God in your sacred space?
Quote
Your soul is the amalgam of everything you feel, everything you think, everything that's going on in your body, every experience you have in relationships and with God. Every part of your will, whether your will is overactive, underactive, or just faithful. All of that comes together. That is your soul, your internal world that was made to be in communion and relationship with the Father.
Prayer
Lord, help me to recognize the weight of my soul and the need for Your care. Guide me to create a sacred space where I can meet with You and find rest. Amen.
