WEEK 3 DAY 1
From Proximity to Intimacy
Devotional
Have you ever been in a crowded room, physically close to someone important, yet felt a million miles away? That's the difference between proximity and intimacy. Many people in Jesus' time could say they were near Him - they heard His voice, saw His miracles, even brushed against Him in the streets. But His disciples chose something deeper. They weren't content with just being in the audience; they wanted to be in relationship with Him. They climbed the mountain when others stayed below. They asked questions when others just listened. They sought understanding when others sought entertainment. The same invitation extends to us today. We can choose to be spectators of Jesus or intimate followers of Jesus. The difference lies not in our physical location but in our heart's position.
Bible Verse
When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them. - Matthew 5:1-2
Reflection Question
In what areas of your life are you maintaining proximity to Jesus without pursuing true intimacy with Him?
Quote
A disciple of Christ is not content with being near to Jesus, but desperate to be formed by Jesus.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, forgive me for times when I've been content just being near You without truly knowing You. Draw me closer. Help me move from being a spectator to being a true follower. Give me the courage to climb higher with You today. Amen.
