WEEK 5 DAY 5

Going on Mission

Devotional
After gazing at Christ and gathering in unity and prayer, there comes a time to go. The disciples didn't remain in the upper room forever. They eventually dispersed throughout Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Many Christians today have reduced faith to attendance, missing that salvation has a purpose beyond personal blessing. God saves us to send us. The Christian life isn't meant to be a perpetual retreat but a daily mission.

Importantly, mission isn't something we do occasionally, it's who we are constantly. We don't need to "go on mission trips" to be missionaries; we are missionaries in our everyday contexts. Your workplace, school, neighborhood, and home are your primary mission fields.

Jesus didn't say "stop and go" but "as you are going." Mission happens naturally as we move through life with intentionality, seeing every interaction as an opportunity to represent Christ. We don't need to add mission to our schedules. We need to recognize that our schedules are our mission.

Bible Verse
"And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight." - Acts 1:9

Reflection Question
If you began to view your current daily routines and relationships as your mission field, what might change about how you approach them?

Quote
Your mission field is not somewhere else. Even though we are going to contribute to places all over the world as a church, your mission field is wherever you're at.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me to see that You've placed me exactly where I am for a purpose. Open my eyes to the mission field of my everyday life. Give me courage to live as Your representative in ordinary moments. May I stop compartmentalizing my faith and start integrating it into everything I do. Use me right where I am to advance Your kingdom. Amen.
