WEEK 6 DAY 2

More Than a Savior

Devotional
Many of us readily embrace Jesus as our Savior but struggle to submit to Him as our King. We want the benefits of salvation without the demands of lordship. Yet Jesus doesn't offer us this option. He comes as both Savior and Sovereign, rescuing us from sin while calling us to a new allegiance. This dual role isn't a contradiction—it's the fullness of who He is. When we try to separate these aspects, we miss the transformative power of true discipleship. Following Jesus means allowing Him to both save and rule our lives.

Bible Verse
'From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.' - Matthew 16:21

Reflection Question
In what areas of your life are you finding it difficult to submit to Jesus's kingship?

Quote
Jesus is not only a savior who has come to rescue, he is a king who has come to rule. And as a king, his disciples are his first citizens who give their authority and allegiance to Him.

Prayer
King Jesus, forgive me for the times I've wanted Your salvation without Your lordship. Help me to submit every area of my life to Your loving rule. Transform my heart to desire Your will above my own. Amen.
