WEEK 8 DAY 1

The Possibility of Falling

Devotional
We often think of spiritual giants in the Bible as perfect examples of faith, but even the closest followers of Jesus experienced moments of failure. Peter, one of Jesus' inner circle, confidently declared he would never deny Jesus, yet within hours, he denied knowing Him three times. His story reminds us that no disciple is immune to stumbling.

This reality isn't meant to discourage us but to prepare us. When we recognize our vulnerability, we develop a healthy dependence on God rather than an inflated view of our own spiritual strength. The moment we think, "That would never happen to me," is often when we're most at risk.

Peter's fall didn't define him or end his story. In fact, his failure became a powerful part of his testimony and ministry. God used Peter's restoration to shape him into a more compassionate, humble leader who understood grace firsthand.

Today, acknowledge your vulnerability, not with fear, but with a renewed commitment to stay close to Jesus. Remember that recognizing your weakness is actually the beginning of true strength.

Bible Verse
"Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall." - 1 Corinthians 10:12

Reflection Question
In what areas of your life might you be overconfident in your own strength rather than depending on God's power?

Quote
"Every disciple is capable of falling. And there are several. There's varying degrees of falling. I mean, it's just. Certainly you fall if you just sin. If you do, if you sin, that is falling, certainly there's greater degrees."

Prayer
Lord, thank you for the humbling reminder that I am capable of falling. Help me to recognize my vulnerability and depend on Your strength rather than my own. Keep me close to You, especially in moments when I feel strong enough to stand alone. Amen.
