WEEK 2 DAY 1
You Have an Enemy
Devotional
Have you ever wondered why life seems to get harder when you're trying to follow Jesus more closely? It's not your imagination. When we commit to living for Christ, we enter into a spiritual reality that many prefer to ignore. The truth is, if you're walking with Jesus, you have an enemy who knows exactly where your weaknesses are. This isn't meant to frighten you, but to prepare you. Just like a soldier needs to understand the battlefield, we need to recognize that our faith journey isn't just about personal growth, it's about advancing God's kingdom in a world that opposes it. The enemy has been studying human nature for millennia, and he's particularly interested in those who pose a threat to his territory. But here's the encouraging truth: being targeted isn't a sign that you're doing something wrong. In fact, it's often confirmation that you're doing something right. When you start making a difference for God's kingdom, when you begin to influence others toward Christ, when your life starts reflecting His light, that's when you become a threat worth opposing. Remember, Jesus himself faced opposition, and He promised we would too. But He also promised He would never leave us to face it alone. The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you. You're not defenseless in this battle.
Bible Verse
'Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.' - 1 Peter 5:8
Reflection Question
When you think about the challenges you're currently facing, which ones might be connected to your growth in faith or service to God?
Quote
"I want you to know today that you have an enemy, if you are with Jesus Christ, who is an excellent marksman, I want you to know that he has been around a while, that he knows exactly where human weaknesses are, and he and his army knows where your weaknesses are."
Prayer
Lord, help me to be aware of the spiritual reality around me without living in fear. Give me wisdom to discern when opposition comes because I'm following You faithfully. Strengthen my resolve to continue serving You regardless of the cost. Amen.
