WEEK 5 DAY 3
The Gospel That Restores
Devotional
For too long, we've thought of the gospel as simply a ticket to heaven - a way to escape hell and secure our eternal destiny. But the good news of Jesus is so much bigger than that. The gospel doesn't just rescue us from the pit; it sets us on solid rock and begins a process of complete restoration. When God breathed life into Adam, He created us as whole beings - body, mind, and soul working in perfect harmony. Sin didn't just separate us from God; it fractured every part of who we are. We became at war with God, with others, and even with ourselves. But salvation isn't just about forgiveness - it's about becoming new creations, being transformed into the wholeness God always intended. This means the gospel speaks to every broken place in our lives. Jesus doesn't just care about where we'll spend eternity; He cares about how our souls are doing right now. He comes to heal the fractured places, to smooth out the rough edges, to bring peace where there's been chaos. Understanding this changes everything about how we approach our faith and how we care for others. We're not just offering people fire insurance; we're offering them hope for healing and wholeness in this life. We're proclaiming that Jesus is not only the Savior from sin but the healer of hearts. This is the gospel that our broken world desperately needs to hear.
Bible Verse
'Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!' - 2 Corinthians 5:17
Reflection Question
How has your understanding of the gospel been limited to just 'getting to heaven,' and what would change if you truly believed Jesus wants to heal and restore every broken area of your life?
Quote
A church that understands that the gospel not only rescues, but it restores.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You that Your gospel is bigger than I've understood. You don't just want to save me from hell - You want to heal and restore every broken part of my life. Help me to experience Your transforming power and to share this hope with others who need healing. Amen.
