WEEK 6 DAY 5

Making Space for God

Devotional
Many people want God in their lives, but they never actually make space for Him. Their calendars are packed, their minds are constantly racing, and their hearts are filled with worry about a thousand different things. Then they wonder why they don't feel close to God or hear His voice clearly. The truth is, God speaks in whispers, not shouts. His still, small voice can only be heard when we create enough quiet space to listen. This requires intentionality - deliberately choosing to step away from the noise and busyness that characterizes most of our lives. Sabbath isn't just about taking a day off work. It's about creating sacred space where God can serve you instead of you constantly trying to serve everyone else. It's about choosing to be still long enough for your soul to remember who God is and who you are in Him. This kind of space-making requires sacrifice. You might have to say no to good opportunities, disappoint some people, or leave some tasks undone. But what you gain is infinitely more valuable than what you give up - you gain access to the peace, wisdom, and strength that only come from spending unhurried time with your Creator. The question isn't whether God wants to speak to you or meet with you. The question is whether you're willing to make space for Him to do so. Your soul is waiting for this gift, and God is ready to give it.

Bible Verse
'The angel of the LORD came back a second time and touched him and said, "Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you."' - 1 Kings 19:7

Reflection Question
What specific changes would you need to make in your schedule and priorities to create genuine space for God to speak to and serve your soul?

Quote
Many want God, but make no space for Him.

Prayer
God, I confess that I often want You in my life but don't make real space for You. Help me to prioritize time with You and to trust that what I gain will be worth what I sacrifice. Amen.
