WEEK 7 DAY 5
Finding Rest in God's Finished Work
Devotional
Here's the most liberating truth you'll ever hear: There is a God, and you are not Him. The quicker you grasp this reality, the quicker you'll find true rest for your soul. Real rest isn't just about getting enough sleep or taking vacations—though those are important. True rest comes from understanding that Jesus has already completed the work that matters most. You don't have to strive to prove your worth, compete with others, or control your future. Your value was established at the cross. When you rest in the completed work of Jesus and stop your endless strivings, something beautiful happens. You can now strive—not to prove your own worth—but for the glory of God. Your work becomes worship instead of a desperate attempt to earn love and acceptance. If there's no rest inside of you spiritually, there won't be rest in your body physically. But the inverse is also true: if there's no rest in your body, you likely don't have spiritual rest either. God designed these to work together. Sabbath isn't just a calendar issue—it's a spiritual one. It's a statement about who God is and an acknowledgment of your limitations. How can you trust God with your eternity but not trust Him with the temporary situations you face today? Step into the rest that Jesus offers. Your soul—and your body—will thank you.
Bible Verse
'Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.' - 2 Corinthians 4:16
Reflection Question
What would change in your life if you truly believed that your worth was already established in Christ?
Quote
When you rest in the completed work of Jesus and rest your strivings, what happens is this. You now can strive not to prove your own worth, but you can strive for the glory of God.
Prayer
Jesus, I choose to rest in Your finished work. Help me to stop striving for worth and instead live from the security of Your love.
